Carolina Village
Lee uses his expertise to renovate Eileen’s Hendersonville house and supervises a crew of Kathy, Wendy, Patty and Kevin. The proceeds from the home’s sale make it possible for Eileen to move into Carolina Village. At Carolina Village Lee and Kathy manage Eileen’s finances and care. Kathy and Lee visited from out of town on a regular basis, bringing their children and grandchildren to see Eileen and were deeply responsible for her wellbeing. Their frequent trips to Hendersonville also included spending time with Leslie and her husband Gordon.
Dawn, Bethanee (with Bailey on the way) Eileen, and Jesse Nurse Practitioner Jan
In Hendersonville itself, Eileen’s daughter-in-law, Dawn, provided an ongoing, supportive, loving, family connection. Dawn was not only always there for Eileen but she kept Eileen’s out-of-state children up-to-date on Eileen’s circumstances. And Dawn’s immediate family, daughter Bethanee and granddaughter Bailey, together with Dawn’s two children Karson and Blaze, enriched Eileen’s later years with the frequent joyful presence of a grandchild and small, energetic great grandchildren.
Eileen spent her last few years not in the Independent Living unit but in Carolina Village’s medical unit. Here the nursing staff was compassionate and kind. Nurses Darla was especially attentive and Nurse Practitioner Jan Corn cared for Eileen during her last illness with great love and tenderness.
Many friends attend the memorial service held at Carolina Village for Eileen’s daughter Leslie in 2017. Eileen dedicated her life to the oversight and care of her daughter who was challenged with mental health issues. It was a testament to the strength and tenacity of Eileen’s support for her children.
